The nonpareil of visually horrific injuries, Busst’s nightmare only drew surname-related jokes for a very short time. In April 1996 the Coventry defender collided with two Manchester Utd. players, resulting in extensive compound fractures to both the tibia and fibula of his right leg. Play was stopped for twelve minutes while blood was cleared from the pitch and goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel vomited.
